A Simple Formula

A Simple Formula

Jeannette Maw

This business of manifesting isn't rocket science, as we all know.  It's pretty simple stuff: focus on what you want, and then do what feels good.

But we often complicate matters, don't we?  Asking questions like:

  • Should I focus generically or use details?
  • Do I put a time frame on it?
  • How do I handle limiting beliefs?
  • Is it best to tell others or keep it to myself?
  • Do I write it down?
  • Why isn't it working yet?
  • What if I don't feel any inspired action?

Which is when I remind clients to relax and let it be easy.  It can be easy, if we're up for it!  (Some of us are used to having to "work for it," but we can change that habit.)

To that end, let's talk about the first part of the manifesting formula: focusing on what you want.

Whatever we've got in mind is what we're creating.  When we imagine future conversations, expect certain outcomes, dwell on past experiences, listen to someone else's story, etc., those activities lead us into those futures.

So when we learn to consistently point our attention on what we want, we naturally lead ourselves into that happy future.

The challenge for most of us is being able to maintain that focus.  We're easily distracted by what we're afraid of, what we don't want, and/or the reality that's right in front of us.

Our job is to rise above those distractions and find a way to create - and continue - a strong connection (i.e. focus) on what we want.

  • Some of the folks I work with achieve that powerful focus by using a mantra ("I am a best selling author in high demand").
  • Some get a clear picture in mind by visualizing their desired end result each day.
  • Others post a relevant printed picture (i.e. a business card representing their dream job) on the wall, refrigerator, mirror, wallet, etc.
  • Some find a physical symbol of their desire (little black dress) placed where they'll see it throughout the day.

Whatever helps you create a focus on what you want, leverage it!  Set yourself up for success by making this "attending-to-your-dream" stuff EASY.

I often get there by using awareness of negative emotions as a trigger to ask the question "What do I want?" or "What does it look like?" - and then spending some quality time with the answer.  Music is also a great tool to keep me on good track, along with afformations and a mastermind group & coach to hold me accountable.

But those are just a few ways to create and maintain a focus on what you want.  Get creative to discover what works best for you, and then work it!  Magic abounds when you do!
