Dream Big (Resistance is Futile)

Dream Big (Resistance is Futile)

"If you're gonna dream, dream big. It's free."

So says the guy whose dream is to restore Iraq's marshlands after Saddam Hussein obliterated them in what has been called the "biggest engineered environmental disaster in the last century."

Azzam Alwash, whose passion for his work is why I'm still thinking about him three days later, has succeeded in re-flooding 30% of the old marshes.  How'd he do it? By simply punching out a little hole in one of Hussein's massive dike system. Nature quickly capitalized on the opportunity provided which is leading to a repopulation (of people and animals). (Watch or read the story online.)

That's how easily big dreams unfold when we dare to dream them.

This guy, with one earth mover and a big dream punches out a little hole that leads to 30% restoration. And he's not finished! That's moving with the power of Universe, don't you think? Talk about using our creative power for good.

How about you ... are you dreaming big? Or are you letting obstacles and "realities" spoil the party?

Coming up on a new year is the perfect time to re-energize your big dreams, leveraging fresh 2010 energy to vault them to new heights. Are you up for the ride?

Each day I talk to more people expressing more discomfort in not going along for their big ride, whether it be starting their business, writing their book, answering the call to more authentic relationships, or something else near and dear to their hearts.

I can relate to this, actually, because I've also had a big dream pecking away at me for more than a little while .. like a chick determined to break out of its shell. Its time has come.

And as we all know, resistance is futile. These dreams of ours - especially the big juicy ones - are wired in our DNA; impossible to forget or deny.  Maybe the best plan is to just go with them, huh? That can't be any more uncomfortable than trying to ignore them or explain them away.

This may sound corny, but it's important, so I'll repeat what bears repeating:

Believe in your big dreams. Get unrealistic. Be impractical. Get carried away!

You - and your dreams - deserve it.
