Get in Character (& Stay in Character)

Get in Character (& Stay in Character)

I watched a movie preview where the heroine explains her departure to her love by saying, "I just need to try another version of myself."

Authenticity is one of my core values, so it made me wonder why doesn't she just try her on true self?

But what is our true self?

It's whatever we practice.

Which made me think of a conversation Abraham had with a Canadian actor where they advised us to "understand the role you want to play, find its vibrational (emotional) basis, and then practice that until that's who you are."

In other words, get in character and stay in character.

So . . . what role are you playing today? Is it the one you prefer?

If not, every day is a new chance to choose.

If you're being a resigned-to-a-job-you-don't-love guy, maybe try on being someone who is fulfilled by their work.

If you're being the sad-I'm-still-single woman, it might be fun to practice being the love-being-single girl, or the delighted-in-love lady.

If we 'be' that person long enough, as Goddess Jacqui says, "the scene will fall into place around you."  (That's a really inspiring post to read!)

While I'm pretty good at staying focused on my goals, sometimes I notice I'm being the person who is working towards those goals, rather than being the person who has already achieved them.

If you've got any room for improvement in your character development, this is your invitation to engage the magic of being who you want now. It's what deliberate creation is all about :)
