Is Your Agenda Slowing Things Up?
This afternoon someone on our Masters of Creation call asked about overcoming obstacles to manifesting money.
In answering their question, I said that when we relax and allow in order to get something, we're not really relaxing and allowing.
Because when we truly relax, that state isn't dependent on what comes from it. And when we're really allowing, there's no need for things to change.
It reminded me of what Intentional Resting Coach Dan Howard wrote in his recent newsletter: resting intentionally to "fix" something doesn't work. That's not resting.
Wanting to "fix" or get rid of something is chock full of resistance. And we know resistance doesn't partner up with good things. Rather, resistance just attracts more of the very stuff we don't want.
(Dan experienced this "resting with an agenda" when he went to bed feeling sore from a day of yard work. He "rested" for his body so he wouldn't be sore the next day. Yet the next day he was sore, which was when he remembered that using resting as a fix it tool doesn't work. If you don't know Dan's work, it complements deliberate creation quite nicely!)
I personally know how easy this one is to miss ... I practiced the same thing when I engaged habits of loving my physical self with the agenda of changing it.
I thought when I got better at loving this body I would slim down, get healthier, maybe even look younger. (Not that I needed less wrinkles or more energy, but I definitely needed to shut down this adrenal fatigue weight gain!)
And that's not love.
That's pretending to love - or flowing a temporary, results-dependent love - in order to get the results we want.
That doesn't work. Universe knows the difference, even if we don't!
What does work is creating vibrational alignment; i.e. feeling now how we would feel then.
It's a different vibration when I'm genuinely loving myself versus using self-love as a means to an end.
When I'm genuinely loving my body, it doesn't matter what it's doing or not doing. That's the nature of real love - it's unconditional. When I'm flowing it in order to get something, that's negotiating - not loving.
It's a subtle but important distinction.
We often do this in our relationships, too. If I'm only nice to my sweetie as long as he's nice to me, guess what that's called? Not love.
My purpose in sharing this is to invite you to explore where you might be engaging LOA disciplines of enjoyment or appreciation (or others) in order to make something be different or change your circumstances in some way. It's much better when we enjoy and appreciate for the sake of enjoying and appreciation, not for filling our bank accounts or getting new jobs or thinner thighs or better relationships.
As Abraham says (Law of Attraction Directly from Source CD, track 9):
Don't seek healing, just seek relief.
Don't seek improvement, just seek relief.
Don't seek solutions, just seek relief.
Just hold in your mind the idea of the Stream that is flowing mightily towards all the things that you want and then just figure out how to get yourself going with the Flow.
If you'll focus upon that, and that alone, everything you've dreamed for will manifest quickly.
I suspect this topic could generate some smart conversation, so I'll take this to the blog for more discussion. Many of you understand this principle way better than I do, and I'd love to hear from you! Pop on over to www.goodvibeblog.com to discuss in more detail.
