The Best Kind of Insurance to Have
You can't build something you love while doing something you hate.
I said that to a client about business the other day, but it also applies to our love lives, our bank accounts, our bodies ... everything.
It's an across the board good thing to remember that, as Abe says, “Unhappy journeys don't have happy endings.”
That's why Jeanna Gabellini told me, over a decade ago when I hired her for help in growing a coaching business, that I either had to find something to appreciate about the day job I dreaded or quit it.
“Even if all you can appreciate is the elevator, you have to find something to appreciate!”
(It's funny she would mention the elevator, because I worked in the nicest building in the entire state and it had a stunning elevator. Still, I hated it.)
The reason she gave me that mandate is because growing something you love is hard to do when all you've got to invest in it is bad vibes.
I fully understood the LOA wisdom of it, but try as I might, I was so burned out I couldn't find a single good thing to like about that job. It had even infected my "off" hours to where all I did was hate it even when I wasn't there. (I was a special kind of toast.)
These days when I tell that story, I feel a little sheepish at my lack of appreciation skills. It sounds kind of pathetic that I genuinely couldn't come up with anything to like about that job. (And so I quit! And with expert guidance from Jeanna built a full practicein three months!)
I like to think that these days I've got the kind of appreciation muscle that would allow me to find something good at that job I dreaded so much back then.
(Which I believe is true – I have much better appreciation skills now than I did then.)
But the truth is, if I had those kinds of appreciation skills back then, I wouldn't have needed them so desperately! You don't dig such dark holes for yourself when you're good at loving life. Law of attraction doesn't work that way.
Which is why appreciation is like insurance against bad jobs, bad romances, bad bank accounts, etc.
When you know how to love, how to enjoy, and how to give thanks – life delivers more stuff to love and enjoy and be thankful for. It's how the system works.
I share these thoughts for a couple of reasons:
- As an invitation to release your tolerations or energy drainers for maximum manifesting success.
- As a suggestion to grow your appreciation muscle on purpose. It'll serve you in a bazillion different fabulous ways.
- And also a resource tip that if you're looking for expert LOA savvy support in growing your business, check out what Jeanna's up to right now.
