Trauma Release Exercises (TRE)
Animals can shake off trauma, but what about us humans?
We store trauma or stress as memories, but the body is also involved with storing the memories. These simple exercises help the body clear that cellular memory, so we can clear the mental and emotional charges easier and more swiftly.

Finding this REALLY helpful!

Finding this REALLY helpful!

Thanks so much for posting this resource! I have been doing a lot of research lately into the relaxation response and ways to help my body release chronic stress & anxiety. A breathing exercise I am doing is giving me some wonderful results, but it is also causing my body to go through some detox phases - which for me has meant that some physical symptoms have flared up as they release. A bit uncomfortable in the moment, but it passes & then my body feels much better.
A few days ago I started having a flare up of some long held shoulder & hip pain - pain that I have tried numerous therapies on for many years. Chiropractic & myofascial stretching have helped a lot, and I've used EFT on it as well - I had reached a fairly stable place. When this flare up began it felt different than the usual pain & I felt my body may be detoxing - a very GOOD thing, but also very uncomfortable. In the midst of the discomfort I logged onto GVU - and found this resource. It seemed like it was meant just for me - I can always count on GVU! :)
I found there is a downloadable MP4 of the exercises that also includes an interview with the man who created the process. There is also a book that goes into much more detail. (If you are interested in the video go to Namastepublishing.com, the book can also be found there or at amazon.com) I found the video VERY helpful - for me personally, it would have been difficult to really "get" the process without it. The exercises are VERY easy, but having the guidance through the tremoring process was extremely helpful.
I have been doing the process for a few days now & have found it to be VERY helpful - I will definately continue to do it. And my current detox phase has almost run its course. My shoulder & hip issue is still there, but I feel it has resolved quite a bit. Between the breathing exercises & the TRE process, I feel hopeful it will resolve completely someday.
One additional note: the breathing & TRE are both helping me to love & appreciate my body - such a wonderful experience! I've certainly tried to love my body before, but never really "got" it. I'm now so aware of just how wonderfully my body has protected me all these years. Symptoms and issues that I had damned, I now see that my body was doing its very best to help me - such a blessing. I'm looking forward to deepening the experience of love!

When I was younger (college age and younger), I used to do this thing with my foot that would make my whole leg shake. I thought it was funny that I could do it *at will*. All the adults were freaked out about it and told me I would damage my nerves if I kept doing it. Hmmmm....
Fast forward many years, I stopped doing this after college. Someone recently commented on all the *traumas* I went through as a kid and into college. "What traumas?!?" I responded...didn't feel like trauma to me then, or now.
Was I intuitively shaking the trauma out of me all those years?
Many blessings,
Nancy
