Who's Training Who?

Who's Training Who?

When I was young my dad taught me to let men open the doors for the ladies. Whenever we went somewhere together and I reached for the door handle he would politely “ahem,” which was my cue to step aside and let him get the door.

He taught me that so well that I've trained a couple of guys how that whole routine works.

It might seem old-fashioned, but it's a small gesture that has a lot of meaning for me. I am not awash in feminine qualities, but this one I like.

There have been a couple times, though, when my date was a slow learner. With those guys who didn't take to it naturally, it could have gone either way. I could have thrown my hands up in the air in frustration and opened my own silly door.

That would have been them training me.

But I've been stubborn on this. No matter how many times I have to stand quietly at the door waiting for him to realize it's his move, sometimes with expectant eyebrows raised at him, I let him do his thing.

On the other hand, my cat Elvis has me well-trained to answer his demands for entrance and exit of the house. Doesn't matter if he just went out five minutes ago, if he wants back in - I get up and open the door again. When he wants out two minutes later, I get up and open the door again.

Because I've learned that if I don't, the meowing never ceases. And sometimes escalates into bad behavior. Suffice it to say, he's got me well trained.

It occurred to me the other day that we have a similar relationship with reality.

I realized this when a fellow coach wrote to say she started the year with high hopes of doubling her income, but it didn't look like that was going to happen. (Um, hello, it'sFebruary?! You're giving up already?!)

That would be like me throwing in the towel on a guy who was slow to remember that I like my doors opened for me. You know what, that guy might need a couple chances to get this routine figured out. But he will - eventually. They all do!

So who's training who in your life? Is reality telling you how it is, and you just accept it because it's too hard to focus differently, or are you telling reality what it's gonna be (via your vibration)?

When you stick to your guns as well as I do standing at that closed door, and as well as Elvis does with that persistent meow - reality will bend to your will when you show it that you mean it.

And it might need more than a minute to answer your request. This is your chance to hold fast to what you want, rather than let it tell you how it's gonna be.

Otherwise reality will just keep doing its same old thing - because that's what law of attraction delivers. More of the same.

Know what you want, find that vibration, and stick to it. Not because you need it. Not because your happiness depends on it. Not because it means anything important. Just because you said so. Because you're a conscious creator, and you get whatever you focus on.

And you can train Universe to open any door for you.
