Why to Fake a Sick Day This Week

Why to Fake a Sick Day This Week

What's even better than a flu shot or a juice fast for staying healthy this season?

Giving yourself a for real day off - even if you have to call in pretend sick to get it ...

You know the power of being good to yourself, right?

It sets the standard for the rest of the world … because how you treat yourself is how you instruct universe to follow suit.

“Universe can only be as good to you as you are to yourself.”

When you treat yourself well you accomplish three important things:

  1. Enjoyment of life (it just plain feels good!)
  2. Reinforcement of worthiness (you deserve it)
  3. Enhancing positive alignment (flows good vibes)

There are actually lots of good reasons to practice self love and amp up your TLC factor.

The challenge is that most of us don't prioritize it in our regular daily life. Rather, we're trained to focus on others and get things done in order to eventually (we hope) earn the rewards of enjoyment and relaxation. Which never seems to really happen. (Even on weekends, which are so often filled with errands and responsibilities.) Until we get sick. And literally can't get out of bed to do the usual routine of working hard to produce results and win approval. Instead, when we're down for the count, all there is to do is let go. Let go of plans, let go of deadlines, let go of effort and struggle. All you can do is recoup, rejuvenate and replenish. At that point your body is the new boss, telling you you're done with the

usual schedule until further notice. Being sick gives us the perfect excuse to say no to the things we'd rather not and yes to the things we'd otherwise feel guilty about. Our to-do lists become unimportant. It's easier to let others be good to us. And our busy minds get to disengage as our hearts open up. What could be better? That's why you should fake a sick day this week. Give yourself a day off and treat yourself like you would if you were off the hook for life's regular requirements. Slow down, sleep in, do what you please as if you had nothing else to do. Read a good book, take a hot bath, chat with a friend - whatever tickles your fancy. (In fact, this is a delicious habit to get into, and is even more fun when you're feeling fine!) All right, I know not all of us would feel good about calling in sick, and that may not be the smartest thing to "pretend" - but amping up your TLC to self IS a smart thing - however you do it. It's an enlightened step above waiting for a bug to put you out of commission and force you into the downtime your body and mind often crave but don't receive. In fact, gifting yourself a day off from life could be one of the smartest ways to stay healthy.  So skip the flu shot and take a "preventive" sick day (while you're still feeling fine) to uplevel your health this season. :)
