Productivity for Deliberate Creators
Sometimes I re-align myself in the middle of a busy day by pausing to ask: Is it important to get it done - or to have a good time?
Those things aren't usually exclusive of each other, but sometimes when the pressure to be productive and efficient is spoiling my enjoyment, I remind myself what really matters.
For me, it isn't about getting it all done or making the most money or building the biggest whatever (list, website, reputation, product lineup, etc.) - but about having fun and enjoying myself in the process.
Which is why goofing off on facebook is totally allowed in my world. So is watching updates of Maru and sitting in a sunny patch of lawn for extended periods of time and singing along to the end of a great song in the parking lot.
It's why if the only thing I got done this week was a lovely dog walk in the canyon - that is a good week.
Productivity is not a core value for me; enjoyment is.
What matters to you? And how do you honor it?
I'd like to hear about it over here ... not just as inspiration to those who don't already practice this, but also as a reminder to ourselves that it isn't about others setting our priorities. It's for us to know and choose what's important in our lives.
I know some people equate productivity with making money. It's a lot easier to honor enjoyment over productivity (on the occasion when they seem at odds with each other) when we equate enjoyment with making money.
I don't sacrifice income by having a good time. Rather, my good time is in complete support of my financial abundance.
That's how I roll, anyway. (And it's done via the power of intention.) How about you?
